Anini Beach – A Calm Spot in Kauai

Anni Beach – Kauai

It seems that most people envision every beach in Kauai and the rest of Hawaii with gigantic and powerful waves. Though the islands are no doubt, haven for surfers, there are numerous beaches in Kauai with waters as smooth as glass. One of these is Anini Beach located in the North Shore of Kauai.

This beach used to be known as “Wanini” and there some stories that tried to explain why “W” was dropped and this beach became, “Anini”. From our Princeville Vacation Home – Lani Hanalei, this beach is less than 20 minutes from our house rental in Kauai. Highly accessible, beach access is only a few steps from the water, making this one of the most convenient and easiest beaches to get to Kauai’s northern coast.

Tranquil and Safe Beach

Those staying in our Princeville Vacation Home with little kids will find this beach safe for children to splash, wade, and swim with bigger kids enjoying snorkeling.   The water is still and serene; thanks to the 2-mile reef of Anini – the longest in Hawaii-   protecting it from the waves even especially during high surf days.

The water has a wide shallow area for kids to freely enjoy the water. Beachfront has a lot of shade to hang out, relax or to simply enjoy the view. Sea turtles, colorful fish, eel and even manta ray (when lucky!) can be seen while snorkeling at Anini Beach. Due to its lake-like waters, Anini Beach is one of the best places for windsurfing in Kauai.

Most visitors also come here to camp where a wide grassy area is designated as a camping site. The camping area is very close to the water edge for visitors to pitch their tents close to the beach. The camping area has ample amenities like pavilion, BBQ grills, picnic tables, restrooms, and showers.

From our family-friendly amenities, our Princeville Vacation Home – Lani Hanalei provides easy access to one of the kid-friendly beaches in North Shore, Kauai.
